Some say to seen a bride dancing alone in the ballroom, or walking gracefully down the grand marble staircase. Supposedly, she is said to be waiting for her husband. This is sweet and spooky, but the question is: how did she get there?
There are two versions to the story, one more gruesome than the other. Both say the following: it was her wedding day, and she was descending the stairs in her luxurious gown and elegant heels. Also, it was a warm June day and windows were left open. A breeze with the smell of mountain flowers drifting it on it, floated in. Little did the bride know the breeze would ruin, and end, her life.
The first, less treacherous version of the story states that the breeze blew the bride’s veil in her face. Not being able to see, the bride tripped on the stairs and fell. Once she reached the bottom of the stairs, the marble had broken her neck.
The second, more…interesting version of the tale tells that the stairs were lined with candles. The train of the girl’s dress was long as she gracefully walked down the stairs. The candles caught the dress’ train on fire, sending the bride into a panic. She tumbled down the stairs, wrapping herself in the burning dress as she went. Supposedly, no one could put out the flames nor get her out of the dress as before she burned to death.
Despite her tragic death, the bride has not taken out her anger on anyone. All she has done, and still does, is wait for her husband in the ballroom, or re-enact her wedding on the marble staircase.
